Animation Mentor Class 1 Progress Reel

I am really very sorry for the fact that I have not posted anything in this blog in past few months. But I think this would be a great post for my little blog. :)

Yes, After working in two different studios for three years, I am a student of Animation Mentor now. And I think, it will be hard for you to believe that, there are many highly experienced technical and talented artist learning here at AM!! At first, I thought, I would be one of the few who is learning after having few years of experience.. but no!! there are many like me who just loves animating and are already in the industry. Anyways, I would like to share with you guys my Class 1 progress reel as I have already completed my class 1.And I am in week 3 class 2.

So, In class 1 my mentor was David Breaux. He has worked is some of Hollywood's blockbuster movies like Speed Racer, Night at the Museum, Outlander, Garfield The Movie, Garfield A Tail Of Two Kitties, Chronicles of Narnia, Elektra and I think he was working on Alvin and the Clipmunks The Squeakquel as he was taking our class! You can find more about him in his website here. I must mention he made us feel real comfortable to ask any questions that we had. And I had filled his mail box with of my questions. Different questions about work-flow, weight, timing, posing, etc. as I was having a lot of doubts before I joined AM. And I got real helpful answers to most of them!

AM is an online animation school.Where students from different parts of the world comes to learn character animation. In class 1, I was with 10 other classmates. The common thing among all the students is everyone just loves to animate! They all are always excited to to talk different things about animation! Mentor here are our main source of inspiration.I am currently in class two.In this class my mentor is Dimos Vrysellas. I will talk a bit about him and show some of my class 2 assignments in here. But till then, you can see what I did in class 1. Which was all about basic foundation. Let me know, if you have any suggestions on this progress reel.

CGT Expo 09

I was all busy these many days. Few exciting things just happened in Mumbai would like to share some pictures which was taken in CGTExpo 2009 conducted by cgtantra.com in Powai. As told CGT EXPO is India's First Career Guidance and Computer Graphics Technology Expo on Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming. More information here.
There I got to meet many of my past colleagues from Maya Entertainment Ltd and Zoo Animation Studio. And we were very happy to meet up again. The special attraction for me was the Master Classes, specially "Sneak Peak into the making of Merry Madagascar by Dreamworks Dedicated Unit at Paprikaas" So, I was one of the first few to have a sneek peak to what Dreamworks in Bangalore is working on! All the artist shared their unique learning experience that they had while working and how they solved all the issues that came in the process of making. It was really very informative and inspiring .

I was interested in "Little Krishna by Big Animation - Case Study" they did some really sweet animation in the television series currently shown in Nick channel. But I missed that one!

I have also attended other master classes like "Careers@Singapore by Contact Singapore and LucasFilm Animation Singapore". where Mrs. Ho Ee Hong shared with us on how we can apply in companies in Singapore. And how it is to be in Singapore. It was the last show of the event. You can see few picture in the cgtantra website here.

Alright!! He was our first team lead in Maya Entertainment Ltd. Balmeet Kohli! He is totally cool and fun person to be around! Now he is in the Frameboxx Incubation. I went to the event along with Rahul in (the center back!) and when we reached there Balmeet was the first one we meet!

Almost done with this animation..

Ok! I have almost done with the animation . Just a little here and there and then will start with the lighting. It took me almost four days to finish this from the blocking that I have posted earlier. Any suggestions is always welcome. So check out!

There is some problem with vimeo...the audio in the end is missing. The dialogue ends with "..tell me about it!"

After many days anyways nothing much going on so.. Recently I started to work on a very interesting acting shot! For now I have just uploaded a blocking..nothing much, no breakdowns just few poses in stepped mode..as I work, I will keep posting here..or maybe after I finish it. haha!! Anyways check out!
